HARNACK HOLLAND LOPS

Family Raised & Loved Bunnies

All About Us

LOCATED IN BRANDON, SOUTH DAKOTA

STOP right there! If you are not ready for a 7-12 year commitment, a bunny that poops up to 200 little round turds a day as an adult, and a mammal that requires attention and exercise do not read any further as you are not ready for a bunny yet. An application must be filled out in order to adopt and put a deposit down. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1D32YlcHuqSk39DwKnpFTHo7Gs2mfUJitIltL9EMEV-E/edit Please be mindful of my time. I answer so many questions that can be found on google or in my policy already and I work full time running my pet grooming business along with 8 year old twin girls , a 12  year old boy and a wonderful husband that puts up with my love for animals. We also have 4 large breed dogs and one cockapoo that are around the bunnies. We do occasionally raise AKC Bernese Mountain Dogs on a very small scale, you can find us at Harnack Berners on Facebook. I am a small breeder only raising holland lops and mini plush lops. I specialize in improving the breed, type and providing the most socialized and friendly companions I can. I do not raise them strictly for the money as I roll most of the money back into them and improving my lines. I do not tolerate messy or aggressive adult bunnies and do my best to provide the perfect family pet. All bunnies that will be available are listed under the bunnies for sale tab. Click on the bunny's picture for descriptions. I delete the listing once I have the deposit so if they are on there they are available. Bunnies posted on my facebook page Harnack Holland Lops and babies in the nest box are not available for deposits until at least 4 weeks of age. I will not do waiting lists, sorry.

Raising bunnies grew out of my love for all animals at a very young age. I started raising bunnies at the age of 10 then I went to college and it was put on hold until I was married and settled in with our first child. After our second ectopic pregnancy I turned to raising bunnies again for comfort. Our bunnies bring me so much joy and the support of God, family and our pets helped me get through our losses and to be blessed with our 2nd and 3rd children. (twins 3 years later) We have 3 Bernese Mountain dogs, a golden retriever, 15 lb cockapoo, and I run and own a very busy dog grooming business as well as selling Zyia activewear and Pruvit pure therapeutic ketones. ketofitmom.pruvit.com

All of our bunnies are started on litter training and have a litter pan from birth but it may take a few weeks  to months in their new home to adjust and be fully litter trained.  They are also around children and dogs and some in my grooming shop with me so noises do not startle them. Please keep in mind all of my bunnies are social and friendly but they trust me so the first 1-4 weeks they will be gaining your trust. Make sure you give them time to adjust and get used to you and don't get frustrated if it takes extra time. I can always win a bunny over with oats, let them come to you don't corner them and chase them down. Lay on the floor in a small area and let them climb on you, nudge you and get used to your smell and voice.

Pet ownership is a rewarding responsibility, and with this in mind we continue to make sure that everyone who comes to us is well-educated and understands the obligations required to keep a happy and healthy bunny. As a result of our hard work, our customers constantly tell us how happy they have been since having a bunny/bunnies in their lives. We just love when they share cute stories and pictures about the bunnies they have come to love so much.

All sales are final and a 50% deposit is required to hold a bunny, once a bunny is chosen you can not switch and once a bunny leaves my hands you can not return them. I will happily help you rehome them but because of my strict policy to keep my buns healthy I can not take them back after you leave because I do not know what they have come across or touched. Please refer to the sales policy for more details.

Sales Policy at Harnack Holland Lops

ALL SALES ARE FINAL

STOP right there! If you are not ready for a 7-12 year commitment, a bunny that poops up to 200 little round turds a day as an adult, and a mammal that requires attention and exercise, can you pick up within a week of wean date and have all the supplies you will need by then? If you can not answer yes to all the following do not read any further as you are not ready for a bunny yet. An application must be filled out before any deposits are taken and before a bunny is chosen. All bunnies are 3-4 weeks old before I take deposits and no sooner and it is first come first serve, no exceptions. I do this to see how their coats and type are turning out and I don't have time to do lists as people change their minds too often or circumstances change. If your truly interested in adopting this form must be completed fully!

I founded Harnack Holland Lops with one goal in mind: giving our new bunny owners a healthy well socialized handled bunny, with excellent qualities and temperaments.  I currently produce lilacs, magpies, harlequin, chocolate, blue/chocolate/lilac otter, chinchilla, blue eyed white, blues, blacks, tri colored, black tort, blue tort, chocolate tort, madagascar tort, chestnut, lightly to heavy marked viennas and many blue eyed bunnies. I raise pedigreed viennas (blue eyed colored bunnies with white on faces and bodies). I have a separate clean lines chocolate program where no viennas are mixed in. Some of my bunnies carry the chocolate vienna gene the rest of my chocolates are clean lines and I will always state if any of my viennas carry chocolate or shaded so as to not mess up any breeding programs that do not use them in their program. I have clean lines as well as viennas in my program. I work hard to produce quality bunnies with excellent temperments and cleanliness. I am a closed rabbitry and will no longer allow visitors except for pick up. I do this to protect my herd and I do not take my bunnies to rabbit shows. All new bunnies I add to my herd from other breeders require a 30 day quarantine before coming in contact with my bunnies and get fecals done at the vet, wormed and treated for fleas, ticks and mites, and other highly transmitted diseases. There are to many viruses and illnesses I would like to continue to keep a healthy herd! I take no risks when it comes to my babies. You can pick out your new bunny by pictures, and how I describe their personalities. Please don't request additional pictures, I don't pose rabbits so you will have to determine yourself if the bunny is right for you. Thanks for your understanding! Please read to the end about requesting pictures after putting down a deposit.

Keep in mind not all our bunnies are not perfect and may grow up to develop an attitude if not spayed or neutered by the time they reach the age of 4-6 months old.  None of my bunnies are fixed for obvious reasons and the babies are not fixed because 8 weeks is to soon surgery as they are too young when they leave and must be older. Their are no guarantees your bunny will be show quality or produce show quality. To the best of my knowledge genders are correct but I have made a few mistakes because the bunnies are young. Please do not question my pricing on my rabbits, you have no idea how much time goes into my babies and adults. There is no guarantee on type if purchased as baby and I do not claim any bunnies to be show type even though I breed for quality and type. Once you pick a bunny no changes can be made, there are not returns , but I will help you re home them if you decide its not working out. Please give your bunny at least 30 days to adjust to you. Everything is new to them and they must gain your trust. No there are no deals on buying more than one either. If you don't agree with the price please search elsewhere. I do pay fees on my site so once they are listed on my site the price may be a tad higher to cover some of those fees, I also report all my earnings to the IRS so I'm also taxed on my prices. Occasionally my older babies will be offered at a discount so that they can get a loving home faster, the price will be shown on my website. Please do not request a lower price, there is a lot of worth that goes into raising bunnies, and I spoil them so I spend more than some other breeders on blankets, toys and special living quarters. A 50% non refundable deposit is due immediately to hold a bunny and full payment is expected 48 hours before they leave on transport or delivery or by wean date whichever comes first. If your bunny is already over 8 weeks at time of purchase the full amount is due immediately. If  you are unable to pay the remaining balance, cancel the sale or pick up your bunny in the time agreed you will lose your deposit. If purchasing a proven adult they must be paid in full and any boarding fees are due 48 hours before they leave. Your deposit cannot be transferred to another bunny at a later date. Once you choose a bunny you cannot switch to a different bunny so please be sure it's the one you want, as it's a lot of work once a bunny is sold I pull them from my website and all adds and pages and groups I am part of. All deposits are non transferrable and I have the right to cancel a sale at anytime. If you absolutely want a different bunny instead you will forfeit your deposit and be allowed to put a deposit on a new bunny. If for some reason your bunny were to pass away in my care you will be allowed to pick another but it must be with in 3 months, no refunds will be given. If the quality of the bunny is not up to my expectations and you are buying to breed, I will ask you to choose another bunny as I only strive to improve the breed and there will be no refunds. You will be allowed to pick another before I offer them on my page or website. I will never just breed to breed. All of my adults have excellent health records and temperaments and the babies are healthy and checked over well before they leave here and groomed. Once a bunny leaves my hands I am not responsible for any health issues as I am not there to protect them anymore and I do not know what they have been exposed to. If needed all vet bills will be the new owners responsibility. I worked for vet and I know what to look for in the health of my bunnies and send them home completely healthy to the best of my knowledge.  There are no health guarantees and all bunnies are sold as is. I do my best to sex them properly, but very rarely mistakes can happen so be sure you double check. You are responsible for checking your bunny over also, and you must let me know within 24 hours of your concerns.  Keep in mind my bunnies are raised indoors and I don't allow visitors to handle my young babies to protect their well being.  I do not raise or sell sick bunnies, I'm not your typical rabbitry as our bunnies are our pets, well loved, exercised and cared for. If a situation arises that you are not able to care for you bunny, I will do my best to help you re-home him or her but there will be no refunds. If your asking a fee for your rabbit to be rehomed, you will not get that back if I am the one selling him or her for you. You must take that loss if your not willing to put in the work yourself to find them a good home. It's not easy to place a bunny after it is older so please make sure you are ready to commit., when adopting. All bunnies must be picked up on their designated wean date or date scheduled pick up or there will be a $3 daily fee for care or $15 per week. I will not hold longer than a week. No bunny will go home before the wean date. Wean dates can be tentative if I don't think a bunny is ready I will keep them a little longer. You will not be charged extra if I decide they need to stay a little longer. I do not sell my proven does often, I usually just retire and spay them and send them to a loving pet homes. However If I do sell a proven doe, I absolutely will not sell her already bred. No matter what the transport is or how short it is, I will not do that to my girls. It is stressful for her and the babies and I just won't risk it so please do not ask as there will be no exceptions.

Spaying and Neutering

If you purchased as a pet please do this before your bunny passes 6 months of age or you may end up with a bunny with and attitude or your bunny will start spraying and keep pooping everywhere marking. Depending on your vet I suggest to get males neutered at 4.5-5 months, depending on size and females at 6 months. Many bunnies become hormonal and territorial around 4-5 months of age. So if your bunny is nipping, marking or aggressive in their cage or pulling chunks of hair out of the bonded bunny they are living with it is time to make the appointment asap.

Transport and Shipping

If shipping is needed YOU will be 100%  responsible for arranging the shipping or transport and in some cases I have friends and family or myself  that can deliver with a delivery fee of $30 per bunny depending on if someone is heading your way at that time. I will not meet halfway unless I am headed that direction already and gas $ is provided as this is not included in the bunny price. Please note you are responsible for arrangements, if I help arrange you will meet at the delivery location at the time requested. If you no show or do not pick up in the time allowed you will not be refunded.  I do use reputable transporters as well that travel all over the U.S. so that is also an option, however I will not hold longer than two weeks of wean date for transport and each week is a $15 fee for care and feed or $3 per day.  I will only meet transport in my town off of the interstate of Brandon,SD. I will not meet outside of my town, as I run a very busy grooming business and have young children and with transport their time is unpredictable and I don't have time to clear my entire day to wait around to meet them. If your arranged transport gets delayed you are still responsible for paying boarding fees, no exceptions. If your bunny were for some reason pass away during transport there will be no refunds. Transport can be stressful and risky if they are exposed to any animals carrying diseases. Bunnies can also have heart attacks if they become to scared. I much prefer you pick up or meet me or one of my friends heading that way. No air transport is allowed at this time unless you fly here and take the bunny home in the cabin, I can meet you at the airport or you can pay for my ticket and the bunny's and I will deliver him/her. If traveling on the airline alone you will only be able to carry 2 bunnies per carrier on the airline. Depending on availability I can fly in your place but you are responsible for finding a flight for me out of the FSD(Sioux Falls, SD airport), in addition to the cost of bunny, airline ticket, and in cabin pet fee for me to fly in your place there is a $250 fee for my time, food, parking at the airport and hotel if not roundtrip.

Please make sure you agree with all of these policies before purchasing. The price in my store is the full price not deposit, please read the notes for the details on each bunny before asking questions.

If your bunny was not sent home or emailed with a pedigree at the time of the sale you will not get a pedigree after the fact. Once pedigrees are issued they will not be issued again so be sure to keep a hard copy and save it. If you sell your rabbit please do not send the new buyer to me, I will not issue them a pedigree.  Some of my bunnies are sold as pet quality and will not come with a pedigree.  I charge more for a bunny with a pedigree so if you desire a pedigree you must notify me at the time of purchase.

Please note: Once your baby is purchased I will take pictures every 14-21 days so please don't constantly request them, as I am working with multiple people and cannot take pictures weekly. I will keep you up to date on how they are doing with either pictures or videos. Please do not crop or alter my pictures, I reserve the copyright of all my pictures. You are welcome to share them. Most of my time goes into cleaning and handling them so you have the perfect pet. Pictures take time so please respect that. You will be required to read and understand this sales policy. If you own a rabbitry I may ask for pictures of where your bunnies live to ensure my babies have a safe and clean environment. Thank you for visiting and have a blessed day!

Preparing for your bunny list

You will need to copy and paste any links below in your browser if the links are not live on your device.

1. Cage/hutch with preferably a wire bottom to keep feet clean add a snuggle blanket and litter pan to match your setup, which can be found in my online store. All things bunnies bungalow is my favorite cage as it has vinyl wire thats gentle on their feet. Use Code SHR5 for 5% off your oder, customized door liner colors and pull out colored trays. Add colored resting mats to match from the same site. This is my favorite cage by far and is well worth the money. I do not recommend plastic bottom cages where the droppings can't fall through or the wooden cages as the wood can soak up the urine and smell and they chew on the wood. I know these cages are nice on the eyes and cute but long term you will probably want a different cage for the reasons I suggested above. I will put one wooden cage that I like, if you insist on having wooden cage.

cage 1: https://www.allthingsbunnies.com/All-Things-Bunnies-24x36x16-Bunny-Bungalow-p/cage202.htm

cage 2: Midwest Wabbitat Cage 37 inch: https://amzn.to/3Qll3MR

cage 3: Critter Nation https://amzn.to/3sceXpQ

cage 4: https://amzn.to/3scbRCm

Cage 5: https://amzn.to/3s4oVK1 , please note your bunny may pee on the wooden area of this cage causing it to smell

Cage 6: Make sure you order the one with wire mesh the cheaper ones do not come with mesh. Grey https://amzn.to/3MlUINk , Mocha: https://amzn.to/3s2Z9py  Coffee: https://amzn.to/3s2Z9py

2. Equine pine pellets for litter in litter pan to soak up urine and keep odor away-at tractor supply. This is the only bedding I use in the litter pan other than the fleece blankets they sleep on.  https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/tractor-supply-pine-pellet-stall-bedding-40-lb?cm_vc=-10005

3. Water bottle with metal balls for licking. I like the choconose as they don't leak, however they come with a small 12 oz bottle so I purchase a larger one to attach to the nozzle. The aqua color one is the only one that you should get as the other colors nozzle is too small or too big. The 13mm is the one you want. https://amzn.to/3Mo3FWB This is the bottle I use just the water part but if you just have one bunny the bottle that comes with it is sufficient. Clear 32 oz https://amzn.to/45QjhJi , purple print https://amzn.to/40gJtvi

4. Must have Timothy hay and pellets Daily, I use the big bale of Timothy grass from tractor supply and manna pro select series pellets from there also. Kaytee Timothy hay is a brand I like if you don't want a bale. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/standlee-premium-western-forage-premium-timothy-grab-go-compressed-bale?solr=1&cm_vc=-10005

Pellets: : Manna Pro Select Series pellets are required the first month you can switch them to what you want after that, they come In 5lb, 25lb and 50 lb bags) make sure to mix half and half with the new food if you choose to switch. Then gradually add more of the new food until old food is gone. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/manna-pro-select-series-pro-formula-rabbit-feed-25-lb?cm_vc=-10011 For treats after 3-4 months of age they get small amounts of dark leafy greens only, no ice-burg lettuce. Kale, spinach, arugula, bananas, strawberry tops, apples is what they are used to in very tiny amounts. Grass outside and dandelions is fine as long as it doesn't have chemicals on it. Don't give them too many treats at once or they can get mushy poop. A bunny has two kinds of poop soft clusters(they eat these for digestion but you will still see some) and hard dry balls. Runny/liquid poop is not good. Some rusty red/orange and darker pee is fine as long as its not all the time. Orange and red usually means they are protein dumping and getting to much protein.

5. Resting mat to get off the wire for them to lay on in the wire area. Black : https://amzn.to/3tNdyGC Cranberry:  https://amzn.to/4760Xxj , Dark Blue: https://amzn.to/3seLxr7, Grey: https://amzn.to/45YcqgF , Green: https://amzn.to/47aTWL7 , Light Blue: https://amzn.to/46TuAla , Orange: https://amzn.to/3QgXtki , Purple: https://amzn.to/3tLMHL6 , Yellow: https://amzn.to/40g6n6a , Pack of 6 Pink https://amzn.to/3FEWMfO , Pack of 6 Blue: https://amzn.to/45RpYLc , single blue: https://amzn.to/3s5SGtY , Pack of 6 Grey: https://amzn.to/40jGbHM / single Grey https://amzn.to/3QlltCy

6. Hay and food feeder. I buy mine at chewy.com but they can be found online or inshore at  petco or walmart, I like that they are combined in one. https://amzn.to/473p92Y

7. Scatterless litter pans to keep feet clean. Please visit my online store to purchase the litter pans I make, as these are the ones they are used to. Mine are bigger than ones you can buy and have vinyl coated wire to protect their feet and keep them clean.

https://www.shannonslovedlops.com/bunnies-for-sale

https://amzn.to/46PpZR7 ,  https://amzn.to/3QjW5x1

https://amzn.to/3sc4iLY

8. Toys chew kabobs, toss toys whatever you fancy. I also like toilet paper rollers and pine cones. They are free and they love them.  https://amzn.to/3tV7ufv , https://amzn.to/3Qg8C4F , https://amzn.to/49h39n2 , https://amzn.to/3MKJ9zF , https://amzn.to/49h3Pc4

9. Optional - exercise pen for outdoor exercise or indoor cage or habitat. https://amzn.to/3tZB8ju

10. Never leave your bunny unattended outside of its cage unless the room it's in is bunny proofed. They will chew on wood and wires. Do not leave them unattended outside either, predators can kill them if they are not protected in their cage.

10. You can use people nail clippers for their nails, however these are my favorite and give you more precise control. https://amzn.to/3Mof7RN

11. I comb mine when they are shedding during shedding season when the weather changes. A fine tooth comb is good to have. This is my favorite and best comb I suggest. https://amzn.to/3QlmxGy

12. Small house for them to sleep in or cat bed is optional if your cage doesn't have a nesting box/bedroom with solid floor.(no wire) I use nesting boxes and turn them on their side and they can use it as a perch and a hiding place/bed. I put hay in there also but don't put it the way it's suppose to be flat or they will use it as a litter pan. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/ware-rabbit-nest-box?cm_vc=-10005

13. If your bunny is outdoors make sure it's protected from the elements. Heated water bottles are good for winter. You can also use straw for bedding in the nesting area. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/standlee-premium-western-forage-certified-straw-grab-go-compressed-bale?solr=1&cm_vc=-10005

To keep any odor away be sure to empty the litter pan daily. I use white vinegar or YL thieves cleaner or dawn power wash https://amzn.to/3QafAIk to clean my hutches, litter pans and trays. I rinse with hot water then spray them, then rinse again. https://www.youngliving.com/en_US/products/thieves-household-cleaner

I know you will enjoy/love your bunny/bunnies as much as I do mine!!!!

Spaying and neutering your bunny will make them a better pet and have less risk of ovarian and testicular cancer. Talk to your vet about setting up an appointment between 4-5 months of age.
